Milton Heiberg
Photography Instructor
Milton Heiberg was
born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and educated at New York University, Union State
College, New Jersey, and Cornell Graduate School of Biological Sciences. He was
given a Brownie Target camera at age 8 and has been an avid photographer ever
since.
Milton
was a charter member of the International Center of Photography, New York City. He served two terms as a director with New York City
Audubon Society, and was founder and past chairman of its Photography Committee.
He currently serves on the board of directors at the Orange Audubon Society in
Orlando.
As a field photographer, Milton was appointed Chief
Photographer for several archaeological expeditions in Israel (1972–1979) under
the direction of Duke University, University of Texas at Austin, and The
Smithsonian Institute. He
also created a photographic series on the Methods of Archaeological
Excavation for the Archaeological Institute of America.
In 1980
Milton started a studio in New York’s photo district, which he operated
until his move to Florida. There he did advertising and location
photography including covers, promotional and editorial illustration
photographic assignments for McGraw-Hill, HarperCollins,
Time Warner, Penguin and National Geographic Society.
In the field of nature photography, he founded
and taught the Nature Photography course at the New York City Audubon Society from
1982 until he moved to Florida in 1998.
He is a frequent lecturer
on wildlife photography, special effects, and general photography.
Tens of thousands of his images have been published
worldwide. He is the
author of seven books on photographic technique. For more
