Learn the technical aspects of drawing the human head from a live model and other sources. Working in pencil and charcoal, students also are encouraged to explore the genre’s expressive possibilities. Bring a drawing pad and graphite pencil to first class.

Required Supplies

Bring drawing pad and graphite pencil to first class. • Soft vine charcoal • Charcoal pencil (soft or 4B) • Graphite drawing pencils (HB, 2B) • Kneaded eraser • Blending stump • Drawing pad (14x17”, Strathmore 400 Series, suitable for dry media) • Charcoal drawing pad: airspray (Aquanet), aerosol or workable fixative (Blair’s or Krylon)
