Come play in the mud! Experience the satisfaction of using your hands to squish, pinch, pat and roll clay into a personal creation. We will experiment with sculptural and functional clay forms, fired and glazed for permanence.

Exploring Sculpture for Teens (Ages 13-17)

***This class will start on 3/26/25***

Learn techniques for sculpting using an armature and sculpting tools to create figures real or imagined. Students choose what they want to sculpt from human heads, animals, cartoon figures or original imaginative creations. The sculptures will be 3 dimensional demonstrating animation, texture and movement. Tools and material included.

Drawing Intensive for Teens (Ages 13-17)

This drawing intensive will challenge students in surprising ways, as they explore a variety of drawing techniques using charcoal and soft pastels. Emphasis will be placed on improving technique, speed, composition, and understanding of anatomy. Each class will present a fresh, challenging still life that may include a model. Repeated sessions are encouraged to expand skills and build a portfolio.

Advanced Wheel for Teens (ages 13-17)

Expand your skills on the potters' wheel as you stretch and manipulate the clay to alter forms and create lids, spouts, and more. Create your own pottery collection to give and to treasure. Prerequisite YAP208 or similar wheel experience.

Learn the basics of digital photography- composition, lighting, exposure and more using our DSLR cameras to take artistic photographs. Then dive into Adobe Photoshop and explore the editing possibilities – image manipulation, tablet drawing and digital painting.

"Does anyone use film cameras anymore? Yes, and you can, too! Learn to shoot on manual 35mm cameras with black-and-white film, develop your negatives, and learn to print photos in the darkroom using chemistry.
