*This one-week camp meets Monday through Friday.* Bring your imagination to life during a week-long exploration of the sculpting process. Students will use a variety of materials and construction techniques to create decorative wall masks, figurines and life-size heads.

In this unique, intensive two day workshop, Chris Casler’s photographers learn by doing. Make photographs from concept to completion in a studio setting. The artist creates an image starting with an empty studio, adding props, models, lights and then photograph the results.
On Friday, examples will be presented and discussed. Saturday morning, students will compose and shoot still life photographs. Then, we begin a studio portrait photography session with a live model followed by motion freeze frame photographs of a dancer in motion.
Travel the Florida Backroads to St. Augustine
Discover hidden architectural and cultural treasures in America’s oldest city, including lesser-known historic sites and neighborhoods which will be explored during an extensive city walk. On the road to St. Augustine the group will travel on Volusia County’s Scenic Loop along the Halifax River and the day will culminate with a waterfront dusk photography session. In 2015, the instructor directed the St. Augustine at 450 documentary photography project, which became an official exhibition of the city’s celebration year. Tuition includes admission and lunch. Black-and-White Film I: Introduction to the Darkroom
Explore the timeless beauty of traditional, film-based black-and-white photography, including image selection, exposure and processing your own film and prints in Crealdé’s wet darkroom. This introductory course will cover basic camera controls and formats, film types, hands-on field trips, weekly assignments, print reviews and lots of fun time in the darkroom. Designed for students new to film photography and photographers who want to reconnect with this creative art form. Tuition includes lab fee, chemistry, and free loaner cameras. Prerequisites: Understanding of basic camera controls and functions. Skill Level: Beginner

Learn skills needed to capture the fascinating world of small nature subjects. Skills cover lens selection and use, lighting, timing, and stacking for focus, and how to overcome the close-up focusing conundrum. We will learn, explore, and photograph small subjects from wildflowers to flying insects.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Digital Photography PH147 or similar experience. Skill level: Intermediate
This new intermediate level, 24-contact-hour course will introduce students to some of the classic themes in photography with technical instruction for film and digital, photographic history, and a series of extended field and studio sessions on Saturdays. Topics covered will include street photography, architecture, portrait, and studio. Through presentations on the history of photography, participants will be introduced to the masters in each specific genre. After each work session, the instructor will hold a formal review and discussion of the student’s work. Prerequisite: Photoshop & Lightroom PH258, Black & White Film Photo II PH239 or similar experience. *Class reviews Mondays: June 20, July 11, July 25 & August 1. Handbuilding Like the Ancients (Mon)
Humans have been firing clay for over 20,000 years, leaving artifacts that provide us glimpses into ancient times and ways. From Mesopotamia to Japan, from the shores of Lake Titicaca to the slopes of Mt. Olympus, clay vessels and figures, tiles and tablets, preserve and suggest those long ago days. Let’s build on that clay legacy by creating pots which harken back to ancient times and yet look to the future.
Explore the potters wheel and create animated pots by altering thrown forms beyond round. Dart, pleat, fold and facet! Just because it’s made on a wheel doesn’t mean it has to be round. Skill level: Beginner
Working from a live model, we will explore painting the figure in oil paint. There will be longer sustained poses held by the model and this will offer students the opportunity to conceptualize the forms that make up the figure. While working through color space, we will create a convincing representation of our model by capturing the gesture, structure and basic anatomy. There will be discussions on drawing, color theory, palette organization and paint application through demonstration and practice.
Tuition includes model fees. Prerequisites: Intro to Oils, Fundamentals of Color, Portrait Drawing or similar experience.
Pastel Fundamentals Crealde@Home
Working with pastels is like sculpting with pure color. Come and enjoy! Each session will include a demonstration. Students are welcome to work from their own photographs or images. We will also explore the advantages of underpainting as we discover the beauty of pastels.
Introduction to Portrait Photography
In this class, students will learn basic lighting techniques, using flash and natural light to reveal a subject’s unique personality. Focus is given to the ways in which posing techniques can define the photographic portrait. Students may work in black and white or color. Prerequisite: Black-and-White Film Photo I PH168, Intro to Digital Photo PH147, or similar experience.

Intro to Oil Painting (Winter Garden)

Learn basic techniques and methods used in a representational oil painting by developing skills of observing, rendering, color matching, and applying paint through practice. Demonstrations and discussions will emphasize the importance of composition, shapes, edges, brushwork, and ways to manipulate the value and intensity of color. Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate
A design problem is given for the term, emphasizing one or two design elements in particular. Discussions about design and the finished pieces are a part of each class. If a base for the piece is needed, that becomes part of the discussion as well. Some hand-building skills are required. Skill level: Intermediate

Working in series and sets is emphasized, as are refining, finishing, and glazing. Demonstrations meet the needs of each student. Prerequisite: Continuing Wheel Throwing or similar experience. Explore the methods, materials, and tools involved with acrylic painting. Learn techniques used to produce a finished acrylic painting, from rough sketch to final finishing touches, including the use of various brushes, palette knives, canvases, clay boards and final coating to protect the finished image. Black-and-White Film: Continuous Studies
This special summer class will assist intermediate level students with black and white, film-based photography – both in the field, with image selection and in the darkroom. Sessions include supervised darkroom printing, technical demonstrations and assignments on different film and printing techniques, as well as practical applications in the field. The course also prepares students for the Film III class, which concentrates on exhibition printing. Note: Class meets June 14, 21, 28, July 5, and 12.

Intro to Jewelry Design and Fabrication
Learn the concepts for basic and advanced jewelry fabrication. In this class, students will become familiar with essential silversmithing skills and methods of cutting, forging, embossing and all the fundamentals of soldering techniques. Students will be given the instruction and tools to make finger rings, earrings, bracelets and other forms of jewelry. Copper materials will be provided for use in class. Students wanting to work in silver should bring their own silver supply. Skill level: All
Intro to Silversmithing Jewelry
Experience the fundamental processes of cutting, forging, metal texturing, hammering, sawing and soldering silver. The course includes: bezel stone setting for cabochon gemstones, polishing techniques and combining sterling silver sheet metal with fine silver wire, etc. Specific projects, planned by the instructor, will focus on how to make silver rings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.

Bring 3 to 4 of your bisque pieces (no larger than 12inches) to this workshop as Artist Jesus Minguez shares his unique use of raw materials in combination with the art of American Raku firing. The suggested clay body is EM712 Max’s White Raku Clay. (Available at Axner Pottery Supply)
Storytelling through Film Photography (Ages 13-17)
Become a visual storyteller! Learn how to sequence images to create a narrative while incorporating the concepts of symbolism and metaphor. Process your film and watch as your prints develop in Crealdé's darkroom then combine with the written word. Get the picture? Film cameras are provided.
Students will learn basic techniques of the alla prima (direct) method of applying oil paint. In addition to paint application and brushwork, students will learn how to mix color using a split-primary palette. Working from still life setups, students will complete one study each week to explore techniques for rendering glass, ceramic, metal, and organic objects. Instruction will focus on teaching students to see and copy value and intensity changes in color. There will be demonstrations of techniques, along with discussions about methods, materials and supplies used in oil painting. Supply list will be emailed to students upon registration. Urban Sketching: Tips and Techniques
Learn to sketch from subject to the environment. Classroom sessions will focus on sketching clothed models and progress towards sketching the model and classroom environment. Learn how to incorporate storytelling into your sketches in our location sessions. These trips to local venues will challenge you to use your sketchbook the way a photojournalist uses a camera. The six-week goal is to produce finished sketches using pencil, pen, and watercolor within two hours. Skill level: Intermediate

Weather-worn Ishidoro lanterns are focal points in traditional Japanese gardens. Our clay projects will be based on this ancient form of stone lantern, first created 1500 years ago to hold the sacred flame that represents Buddha and the light which brings wisdom and compassion, overcoming darkness and ignorance. Discover the Art of Paper Marbling
In this 1- day workshop, you’ll explore and merge the ancient art of marbling while creating intricately stunning designs on water, to capture them onto a unique mono print.
Towards the end of the workshop, you will be able to choose one of your marbled papers to decorate the cover of a handbound notebook. Join artist and bookbinder, Silvana Martins as she shares her love and knowledge of Paper Marbling. Silvana has studied with masters of this art form in Italy, Brazil and the USA.

Campers bring bag lunches for daily picnics. Supervision is provided until 5:30 pm.
Inspired Words, Writing to Art 7/30
When you see a painting, what do you feel? When you look at a photograph, what memories surface? Tap into your creativity with the use of paintings, photographs, and objects as award-winning writer Elaine Person prompts you to write original stories, poems, and essays. Learn writing tools and techniques. Different genres of writing and reflection will be discussed. Short lunch break provided. Students will leave this workshop with their own written words. In this workshop, you will learn to bind this beautiful book by hand using a French Link Stitch with ribbon support. A variety of papers, ribbons and threads will be available for you to choose from. You will exercise your creativity, and at the end of the workshop, take home a book that is uniquely yours.
Explore metal folding and forming as a unique process for jewelry-making. Participants will learn to design and the precision techniques necessary to make a series of small-scale samples for sculptural jewelry. This course will include equipment safety, design, material preparation, design execution. Create dimensional forms out of flat copper sheets without molds or stamps. Note: this class is fairly physically intensive, and calls for nimble dexterity and significant manual strength. Skill level: All
