Classes & Workshops

Explore the timeless beauty of traditional, film-based black-and-white photography, including image selection, exposure and processing your own film and prints in Crealdé’s wet darkroom. This introductory course will cover basic camera controls and formats, film types, hands-on field trips, weekly assignments, print reviews and lots of fun time in the darkroom. Designed for students new to film photography and photographers who want to reconnect with this creative art form. Tuition includes lab fee, chemistry, and free loaner cameras.

Basic understanding of 35mm camera controls and functions is preferred.

Required Supplies

Loaner cameras available
B/W Film specific to camera (35mm or 120). B/W Paper (Ilford 8x10 Pearl finish suggested, box of 25 or 50). Negative sleeves. All chemistry for film and print development will be provided.

Special Notes

John Baker

As a faculty member in the Photography Program, John Baker shares his love and knowledge of film photography in both youth and adult classes, guiding artists young and old in the processes of creating traditional black and white images from capture to print.  A consummate exhibitor in and supporter of the Central Florida art scene and recipient of many best-in-show awards, Baker holds two B.A. degrees in Arts and Sciences from the University of Central Florida.  He has served at Crealdé School of Art in varying capacities for two decades, and has a studio at FAVO in Orlando.
