ENROLL NOW

Instead of at or just below eye level, as in a typical still life, we will put the subject on the tabletop or floor for a 'bird's eye view".
Explore shapes and colors that make the painting while considering composition, values, temperature, and color intensity. Use the color wheel to create your still life. Work in Oil or Acrylic.

Required Supplies

Supply List: All forms will be square so have a painting surface no larger than 8x8 inches or 10x10 inches. Toned to 40% gray or tan but make sure the tint is cool. Bring whatever drawing tools you use, whatever paint colors you usually use, brushes, odorless paint thinner (if using oils) and a jar to put the used thinner in.
Easels, stools/chairs and paper towels are provided.
If you prefer to work from a photo of your design on your tablet, then feel free to bring it. However, working on this design from life will certainly enhance your powers of observation.

Special Notes

Prerequisites: PD103 and PD149 or PD157 or similar experience. (not for beginners)

Instructor

Barbara Tiffany

An artist her entire life, Barbara Tiffany joined the Crealdé faculty in 2012 and has served in multiple capacities. Her studies in classical painting were strongly influenced by her mentor, the late Maury Hurt, at the Maitland Art Center, where she was an instructor and maintained a studio for many years.
