Swoon: A Homecoming

Location: Alice and William Jenkins Gallery

For more than 25 years, internationally acclaimed artist Swoon (Caledonia Curry) has been a pioneering force in contemporary art and one of the most influential voices in the traditionally male-dominated worlds of street art and muralism. Born in Florida, Swoon has achieved global recognition through exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Tate Modern in London, and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, and has been featured by PBS and other major cultural platforms.

This exhibition features prints from Swoon’s recently released divination deck, drawing upon archetypes, symbols, and characters from the richly imagined fairytale world she has spent years building. Rooted in storytelling and transformation, these works blend myth, memory, and personal narrative while reflecting the artist’s longstanding engagement with social and environmental issues that inspire meaningful conversation and reflection.

For Central Florida audiences, Swoon: A Homecoming celebrates a Florida-born artist whose international success stands as an inspiration to generations of artists. By bringing the work of one of today’s most significant contemporary artists to Crealdé School of Art, this exhibition connects our community to the broader art world while affirming the creative potential flourishing here at home.
