Symbiotic Dance: Marianna Hamilton-Ross

Location: Showalter Hughes Community Gallery

Various aqueous painting media allow Marianna Hamilton Ross to explore the interdependence of Man and Nature. Florida’s gardens and native habitats combine with human figures to depict both protective and turbulent relationships. Her work interweaves these observations and provides a fluctuating Symbiotic Dance between Man and Nature – continually challenging, stimulating and yet nurturing.

Her work is in many corporate and public collections nationally including the AAA National Headquarters, Bank of America, City of Orlando, Walt Disney World, and South Carolina State Art College. The exhibition is curated by Barbara Tiffany, Crealdé’s Curator of Exhibitions.
Marianna will demonstrate for the public her technique of silk painting. Derived from the ancient Indonesian batik process using a wax resist and immersion dyeing, this contemporary application combines drawing with a water-based resist, followed by the application of dyes using watercolor painting techniques. Demonstration date is Sunday, June 24 at 2 pm.
