Beneath A Clear Blue Sky: Photographs of September 11

Location: Alice and William Jenkins Gallery

Beneath A Clear Blue Sky: Photographs of September 11 is a poignant 25th-anniversary memorial exhibition featuring firsthand photographs taken by artist David Forrest in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Captured from Brooklyn as the attacks unfolded, these powerful black and white images document not only the tragedy that transformed a nation, but also the resilience, compassion, and quiet humanity that emerged in its wake. Through museum-quality prints, thoughtful interpretation, and opportunities for reflection, the exhibition offers an intimate and deeply personal perspective on a day that continues to shape our collective memory.

More than a historical record, Beneath A Clear Blue Sky serves as a moving tribute to those affected by the events of September 11 and invites audiences to consider the enduring strength of the human spirit beneath even the darkest of skies.

You are invited to the opening reception of Beneath A Clear Blue Sky on Friday, August 21 from 5:30–7:30 PM. The exhibition will remain on view in the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery through September 26, 2026.
A memorial gathering is planned for Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10 AM.
Please join us in remembrance while we honor the many lives of those impacted by the events of 9/11.
