Contribute your own personal Gargoyle to the long history that has embellished architecture for thousands of years. Work on modeling heads and faces for interior and exterior display. Create variations on historical works or create your own vision in terra cotta clay or stoneware. The works will be fired and colored surface treatments will be suggested and demonstrated.

Introduction to Bronze Casting

Create wax sculptures that will be cast in bronze. Students learn how to prepare the wax form for casting, and the ceramic shell mold-making process. The instructor uses the latest mold-making materials available and students witness a bronze pour at the end of the class. Cost includes the casting of one five-pound bronze with option to purchase additional material for large works. Students are responsible for finishing, polishing and coloring of final castings. Cleaning polishing and finishing the bronze work is not included in the cost of the class.

Discover the range of processes in the finishing of a bronze sculptures. This is an introduction class on how to sandblast, clean and finish your bronzes for display. Demonstrations using materials for grinding and polishing will be a big part of the classroom work. Coloring the metal with patina will be demonstrated and used on student works. Materials include in the cost of the class. Prereq: SC129 or similar exp.
