Focus on creating a Kinetic sculpture from found objects. Artwork that hangs from the ceiling and sculptures that are mounted on stands for the yard. Fishing swivels, bearings, hinges, wheels and many more forms will be used to make art move with the wind. Materials will be supplied but students are welcome to bring their own parts.

Create whimsical figures and faces from found objects made of steel. Students are encouraged to bring in objects to include in their compositions. All metal objects must be sensitive to a magnet. Free materials will be available during the workshop.

In this demonstration, you will see a crash course of blacksmithing and be introduced to the tools, the techniques, and the applications of metal working as an art form and as a craft. Bronze Casting Workshop Jan 25-26

Contribute your own personal Gargoyle to the long history that has embellished architecture for thousands of years. Students will work modeling heads and faces for interior and exterior display. Create variations on historical works or create your own vision in terra cotta clay or stoneware. The works will be fired and colored surface treatments will be suggested and demonstrated. Clay will be available for purchase in class.

Explore a variety of mold-making techniques in creating sculpture works. Students will create molds out of clay, plaster, low temperature wax, alginate, and latex. All materials are provided.
Sculptural Garden Art in Concrete
Create functional sculptures for your house and garden. Explore ways of creating large forms easily with affordable materials. Model sculptures by carving, and construction shapes to be covered, cast and poured in cement. Masonry dye and various surface treatments will be demonstrated in the completion of large garden forms.
Creative Metal Casting Techniques in Aluminum Feb 22-23
Discover a variety of ways to cast aluminum using experimental techniques. Students will be introduced to alternative model making materials that can be used to create small aluminum sculptures. Make small sculptures with materials that can be burned: plastics, wax, shells, cardboard, wood, etc. Sand casting will also be demonstrated using styrofoam shapes. Metal pour date to be announced at the workshop.
Blacksmithing Fundamentals Workshop
Learn the fundamental process for traditional blacksmithing. Students will use the hammer to forge hot steel on the anvil and learn how to make door handles, hooks, and ornamental scrolls. Practice techniques such as flattening, upsetting, twisting, punching, drawing, and familiarity with the blacksmith forge.
